There's a particular kind of morning we love at Chomklong. The light comes through the trees, the kettle is on, and the first guests wander down to the garden still half in their dreams. We pour the coffee, the day begins gently, and nobody is in a hurry. That's the cafe in one sentence.
Coffee first
We take our coffee seriously without being precious about it. We work with beans grown in the Thai highlands — northern Thailand has a wonderful, often overlooked coffee story — and we keep the menu simple: a proper espresso, a flat white, a long black for the purists, and a cold brew that's a lifesaver in the green-season heat.
If you don't drink coffee, don't worry. There's butterfly-pea iced tea (the colour alone is worth ordering), fresh lime sodas, and whatever fruit is ripe in the garden that week.
A breakfast worth getting up for
Breakfast is included for our staying guests, and we think it's one of the nicest parts of the day. It changes with the season and the market, but you'll usually find:
- Eggs your way — with sourdough toast, or Thai-style with a peppery kai jeow omelette
- Fresh tropical fruit — mango, papaya, dragon fruit, whatever the garden and the morning market offer
- Homemade yoghurt and granola for the lighter mornings
- Thai breakfast classics — khao tom rice soup, or jok congee, when the weather turns cool
We cook in small batches, by hand, the way you would at home. Tell us about allergies or preferences the night before and we'll happily adjust.
A table under the trees
The cafe spills out into the garden, and that's by design. We'd rather you ate slowly, with the birds and the breeze, than rushed through indoors. There's a shady corner for reading, a long table if you've made friends with the other guests, and a spot of sun for the mornings when you want it.
The best thing on our menu isn't food. It's the permission to slow down.
Co-living: stay, work, linger
More and more of our guests are remote workers, writers and quiet people who just want to be somewhere green for a while. The cafe doubles as their workspace: reliable Wi-Fi, plenty of plug points, bottomless coffee, and a view that beats any office. Settle in for an hour or a month — we've had both.
